Beginning September 2025, all Springfield Public Schools (SPS) students must have their electronic devices off and away from bell to bell, including during passing periods and lunch.

It is with deep sadness that Springfield Public Schools shares the news of the passing of EJ Rotherham, Assistant Principal at Agnes Stewart Middle School (ASMS). EJ passed away peacefully in his sleep over the Memorial Day weekend.

Springfield elementary students banded together to honor honor Ruby Bridges, the girl who became the first Black child to attend a formerly all-white public elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana.

At the end of the 2024–25 school year, Springfield Public Schools (SPS) and other districts insured through Property and Casualty Coverage for Education (PACE) were notified of changes to property insurance coverage for buildings more than 50 years old that use engineered wood trusses (such as bowstring or glue-lam trusses).
As bargaining discussions continue between Springfield Public Schools and The Springfield Education Association, we recognize there will be many questions, and at times, conflicting information, about the current situation.

During a special meeting, the Springfield Board of Directors reviewed the results of an independent investigation into several complaints related to board member conduct and governance practices.
